Children enjoy racing against time to transfer water from bucket to bucket in this fun outdoor game!

Number of participants: 3+
For: For kids under 12 years
Intensity level: High
Preparations: Fill 2 buckets with water.
Equipment: 2 Large Buckets, Small Cups (1 per child), Water

Begin by dividing children into 2 even teams. Determine a starting and finish line at least 10 to 20 feet apart (should be based on how many children are on a team and how far they reach once in a line). Place 2 buckets full of water at the start line and 2 empty buckets at the finish line. Give each child a small cup. On the word “Go!”, the teams will have 2 minutes to transfer the water from one bucket to the other bucket using only their own cup.  Teamwork and carefulness are the qualities needed to win this race.  The team who successfully transfers the most water into the end bucket wins the contest.

*This game can be played by using sponges instead of small cups.  To do this, children will soak up water from one bucket with their sponge and carry it to the other.  Once there, players need to squeeze as much water out of their sponge as they can.  The team with more water in their bucket will win the contest.
