The Alphabet Game

(Push a star to rate!)

Kids compete against each other and time to find the most items using the alphabet!

Number of participants: 3+
For: For kids over 7 years, youths and adults.
Intensity level: Low
Preparations: none
Equipment: Paper and pencil.

Divide the players into two teams (if more than 10 children, then create more teams). Supply each with paper and pencil. Determine a time limit (5 or 10 mins). When the time begins, each team will try to find as many items as they can that begin with each letter of the alphabet. When the time is up, the scores are added. The teams take turns reading off the guesses for each letter and assign 1 point for each item listed (more than one item for each letter is allowed).  If both teams have the same guess for a letter (i.e. both have used “television” for the letter “T”), then neither team will receive a point for that letter.  Bonus points should also be given out to the team who found an item for all of the letters in the alphabet.  The team with the highest score wins.

This game can be played indoors or outdoors.  Be sure children are aware of the game zone.
