Sack Race
Children use sacks to hop across the finish line first!
For: For kids and youths under 16
Intensity level: High
Preparations: Purchase or Make Sacks. Ideas include burlap sacks, potato sacks, or pillow cases.
Equipment: Sacks
Begin by handing out a sack to each player. Sacks can be burlap sacks, potato sacks, pillow cases, or any other material that could serve as a sack. Players must step into their sacks with both feet and hold on to the top with both hands. Children should be allowed to practice for a few minutes and become familiar with the movements needed in the race. Once done practicing, children should then line up at the starting line. On the word “Go!”, children begin hopping and racing each other to the finish line. Children will stumble and fall, but need to be quick on their feet to win! The first player to cross the finish line wins the race! Awards can be handed out to first place, second place, and third place.
*This race can also be competed as a tournament. Each round will act as a heat, eliminating one or more players each round until only one is remaining.
