Prize Auction Game

(1 votes. Push a star to rate! )

With play money, children get to bid and purchase on gifts before they even see what it is!

Number of participants: 3-10
For: For kids under 12 years
Intensity level: Medium
Preparations: Ask each child to bring a small wrapped gift around $2-$5 dollars.
Equipment: none

Have each child bring a small wrapped present to share ($2-$5 gifts will usually work).  Pass out $20 in play money to each child who is participating and have an adult act as an auctioneer.  The presents will then be auctioned off for play money, but not opened until the present has been won. For fun, add food or gag gifts in with the rest. Once a child is the highest bidder, allow them to open their gift in front of everyone one.  Children love to open each of these surprise presents.  After all gifts have been bought, children can trade or share if they want.

*Candy can also be auctioned off at the end for all the children who have only a dollar or two remaining.

*To make the auction more exciting, set rules so that children can only bid in increments of one or two dollars.  This way, children will not just shout out $20! on one gift, and each will get to duel for presents.
