Pirate Treasure Game
Children dig for treasure and keep whatever pirate booty they find!
For: For kids under 12 years
Intensity level: Medium
Preparations: Optional: Create a treasure map that will lead children to the sand box and treasure.
Equipment: Sandbox, Play Sand, Pirate Booty (see instructions), Eye Patches (optional), Map (optional)
To begin, fill a child’s sandbox or small pool with play sand. Bury pirate treasure throughout the sand. This pirate treasure can include: pirate gold coins, chocolate wrapped up as pirate gold, other candy, party favors, children’s play jewelry, eye patches, etc… Supply all children with sand sifters and dirt shovels to help dig through the sand. All children win with this fun, pirate activity.
*For added fun, children can be provided with eye patches and an old map to the sandbox. They can then work together to find where the treasure is buried.
*Children’s play maps can be found and downloaded off the internet.
