Obstacle Course

(Push a star to rate!)

Children race against each other to complete some tasks and be the first to cross the finish line!

Number of participants: 3+
For: For kids and youths under 16
Intensity level: High
Preparations: Setup obstacle course.
Equipment: Obstacles of your choosing: Jump Ropes, Boxes, Etc...

Set up different obstacle areas several feet apart from each other (jump ropes, cardboard boxes, situps).  It is best to set out at least 3 or 4 different obstacles that must be completed.  Determine a starting line, finish line, and the order in which the obstacles must be completed.  Line up the players behind the starting line.  On the word “Go!” players race to complete each obstacle in order and as quickly as possible.  The first player who has accomplished all obstacles and crosses the finish line is the winner.  Awards can be given out for second and third places also.

*If there are many players, this obstacle course can be done as a tournament and in heats.  Race 2 children at a time, and the winner of each heat will go on to compete in the next round.  Continue play until the final two players are ready to compete in the last heat.  These two players will receive first and second place prizes.  The winner of this race is the winner of the entire tournament.

*For younger children keep obstacles on an elementary level (ex: jumping jacks, crawl through cardboard box, etc…) that will make the course better suited for their abilities.

*Best played outdoors but can be altered for an indoor game.
