This outdoor hunt has children scrambling to find all of the nature items on the list!

Number of participants: 3+
For: For kids and youths under 16
Intensity level: Medium
Preparations: none
Equipment: Lists

To begin, prepare a list of 6 or 7 nature items that can be found nearby (ex: rocks, bark, acorns, etc…).  Be sure to establish and explain the area in which the children will be allowed to search.  The area should be close by.  Determine whether children will be working together in teams or individually.  On the word “Go!”, children may start their search.   The first team or player back with all of the items on the list will win the game.  If children have gone over a certain length of time without completing the list (i.e. 30 minutes), then regroup the children and determine the winner based off of the amount of items found.

If there is a tie, then determine which child or group brought back the most interesting item.  That child or group will be awarded the winner.

Prizes can be handed out to all winners.

*Game is easily adaptable for all ages. Younger children can be given more obvious clues, while older children can be given a more detailed, specific list.  For instance, instead of simply finding a stick, children could be required to find a stick that looks like the letter “Y”.
