Handshakes for Cash
This icebreaker game is a shameless bribe to get all the guests to meet each other.
For: For kids over 7 years, youths and adults.
Intensity level: Low
Preparations: None or not specified.
Equipment: 15 or more one-dollar bills
The host secretly gives three dollar bills each to a selected number of guests (typically four or five, depending on the size of the group). Their instructions are to shake hands with all the guests and give one dollar bill each to the 5th, 10th, and 15th persons they shake hands with. At some point early in the evening after everyone has arrived, announce to all the guests that a few people in the room are going to give away money in exchange for handshakes. The players giving the money away need to be clever so that they can pass the cash without everyone seeing them do it. The game ends when all the dollars have been distributed.
