You will need 26 brown paper bags for this game. On each bag, write a letter of the alphabet on the front of the bag in large black marker. Put a item that starts with that letter into the bag. Now seal the brown paper bag. Separate the guests into pairs of two. Put the brown paper bags with a letter in the middle of the room. When the game starts, the couple will need to grab a brown paper bag. They will also need to figure out what is in the bag together as a team. They cannot open the brown paper bag to peak inside. They will need to write down the answers as they play. The pair that figures out the contents in each brown paper bag wins.

Items that can be placed into the bags are eraser for E, pen for P, stapler for S.

Simple and fun, children of all ages enjoy guessing the number of jelly beans in a jar!

Begin by purchasing and counting out the number of jelly beans that will be used in this contest. After counting, pour the jelly beans into a clear jar or container. Place the jar full of jelly beans in the center of a table or on the counter. Allow each child a chance to hold the jar and to guess the number of jelly beans that they think may be inside. Write down each child’s guess and when all children have had a chance, announce the actual total. The child who chose the number closest to the total wins the contest and is awarded the jar of jelly beans.

*Can be played with other candies: M&M’s, Reese’s Pieces, Gummy Bears, etc…

*Can also be played with non-food items: buttons, little rubber bouncy balls, marbles, etc… For party themes, the jar can contain items pertaining to the theme: pirate gold for pirate parties, candied Easter eggs for an Easter party, and more.

Hands become feet in this fun relay version of the traditional wheelbarrow race.

Divide the group into two or more teams, with an even number of players on each team. Within the teams, players pair up and decide which partner will be “down” and which one will be “up.” The first down player for each team places a pair of flip-flops on his/her hands , so the thong fits between the index and middle fingers. The down player then bends over and places his/her hands on the starting line, while the up partner stands behind and holds the down player’s legs in the air to form the wheelbarrow. When the host shouts “Go!” the first pair on each team takes off toward the finish line, flip-flops clomping along. When they reach the finish line, they trade positions and head back to the start, where they pass the flip-flops on to the next pair on their team. The relay race continues until all pairs of players have completed a lap up and back. The first team to finish wins.

Toss the ping pong balls into the cans and earn fun prizes!

Begin by collecting a few coffee cans to use in this game. Prepare cans for use (clean and safely cover any metal pieces that can cause children injury). Place cans and determine the throwing distances and create throwing lines based on age and/or abilities (ex: toddlers a few feet away, a 7 year old about 9 feet, etc…). Each player should get 3 ping pong balls to toss into the can. Children should stand at their throwing line and toss each ping pong carefully into the can. Each ball in the can is a point. Award prizes or candy based upon highest scoring or even for participation. Encourage children to keep trying as the ping pong balls are likely to bounce right out of the can.

*If using metal coffee cans, be sure to hammer down or tape up the rim for safety.

Everyone gets into the action as the ping pong ball bounces wildly.

Players spread out around the sides of the ping pong table. Two players step up, one on either end of the table holding a paddle. One player serves the ball and drops his/her paddle on the table before moving in a clockwise direction around the table. The player to his/her right comes in and picks up the paddle to return the ball. Everybody gets a chance to hit the ball, and the game moves really fast. Allow players two misses each, then they have to drop out. When only two people remain, they each hit the ball, put the paddle down, spin around, pick the paddle up again, and return the ball, until somebody misses and is out.

Everyone in the group should sit in a circle. The host gives a ball to one of the players, and then says something nice about the player. For example, “I like your hair” or “You have a nice smile” or “That color looks so good on you” etc. The person who receives the ball and the compliment then has to pass, throw or roll the ball to another player and say something nice about him/her. The game continues until everyone receives the ball and hears something nice said. Try to avoid repeats.

Can you figure out who the murderer is after the lights have gone off?

“Murder In the Dark” is a good game for groups of people. You will need to make enough slips of paper for each player or guest. You need to write “murderer” on one paper, on another write “detective”, and on all of the rest write “suspect”. Hand out the slips of paper. The players cannot reveal who they are to the other players. A player will count to three and turns off the lights. Please make sure that the room you are using is safe to walk around in the dark. Now the game can begin. The murderer will find players and will tap them on the shoulder. If you are tapped on the shoulder and are a suspect, you can fall to the ground. You can have fun and make some dying noises too. If you are tapped and you are the detective, you say “detective is dead”. If the detective is killed, the lights go on. The dead suspects must pretend to be dead, and even the murderer himself can play dead. The detective then surveys the “bodies” and accuses who they think is the murderer. If they guess wrong, the murderer has won, but if they guess right, the detective has won.

Divide your group into two teams and have them stand facing each other inside two adjacent playing areas. Distribute the soft rubber balls equally among the two teams. When the host shouts “Go!” the players throw the balls and try to hit players on the other team. When a player gets hit, he/she must go to prison camp behind the opponents’ playing area. The prisoners can catch any balls that come back there and throw them at the opponents. Hitting an opposing player sends that player to prison camp and releases the player who threw the ball to go back to his/her original side. Balls that bounce before hitting someone don’t count, and balls that are caught on the fly don’t count either. Continue playing until all players on one side have been eliminated.
