Cat and Mouse
The cat watches the mice and any mouse the cat catches moving is out! Outsmart the cat to win!
For: For kids under 6 years.
Intensity level: Medium
Preparations: None or not specified.
Equipment: Music
Determine a large area for children to dance around in without running into each other. Then choose one child to be the cat and the remaining children will be the mice. The cat is in charge of starting the music and stands off to the side while the mice find places in the middle of the play area. When the music begins, the mice will scurry around and dance. When the cat stops the music, the rest of the children need to be still and as quiet as mice. The cat watches the mice closely. The first mouse that the cat sees moving is out of the game. The game play will continue, eliminating one mouse each round until only one mouse is left standing. The last mouse is the winner and is the cat for the next game.
*Encourage children to be energetic and silly in their frozen poses as children will get more enjoyment out of the game.
