Balloon Volleyball

This indoor version of volleyball can be just as much fun as the Olympic sport it is based on.

Number of participants: 3+
For: For kids over 7 years, youths and adults.
Intensity level: Medium
Preparations: Place the two chairs in the middle of the room about 10 feet (3 meters) apart. Tie a pice of string between the two chairs to form a "net" several feet above the floor. Remove or cover any breakable objects in the room.
Equipment: a balloon inflated with air (not helium), two chairs, a length of string

Divide the players into two teams, one team on each side of a string “net” strung between two chairs. To begin, a player from one team “serves” by hitting the balloon over the string net to the other team’s side. The players who receive the balloon must return it back to the original side without letting it touch the floor. There is no limit on how many times a team may hit the balloon, but no player may hit it twice in a row. Play continues until one team fails to get the balloon back over the net, either letting it hit the floor or hitting it under the string net instead of over. In that case, the opposing team scores a point. Alternate serves after each point is scored. The game ends when one team reaches 15 points.
